Michelle and I would like to send our condolences to the friends and families of Mike Chiapperini and Tomasz Kaczowka who were killed in the line of duty in a Christmas Eve ambush as they fought a fire in West Webster, New York.
I wish I had the words to make it all better, but I don’t, nor am I going to try.
These great heroes did not die in vain, as they died doing what they loved, serving and protecting their community and those they loved. These are men who, in death, brought the community together in ways in which we have not seen in years. They will be in our hearts forever.
I am going to say that in the wake of this horrendous event, our community has shown overwhelming support. We are proud to be a part of such a warm and loving community.
Rest in Peace Lt. Chiapperini and Tomasz Kaczowka.
If you would

Lovely sentiment, I was shocked when I heard the news of these shootings, and so close on the heels of the school shooting in Conn. What is this world coming to when firefighters will have to look over their shoulders rather than do the job they are there to do?
This has been a heartbreaking couple of weeks. At a loss for words
