Though there are many who see Rochester as a city which has seen its best days in the past, I believe the best days are yet to come.
I spend a lot of my time riding my bike in and around the city looking for bright spots or dark spots that can be improved. From a distance, it’s all beautiful, but when you get close, it’s nothing more than a skeleton of what it once was. When riding down Andrews street yesterday, I saw an open space surrounded by a chain link fence. I don’t know who owns it, I don’t know if there are any plans for the spot, as the spot has been empty for as many years as I can remember.
I believe that this spot would make a wonderful spot for a community garden. Its centralized location would bring people from all walks of life from within the city together as a community. If you have any ideas how we could either have the land donated or purchased for a community garden, please contact me at ourtinyearth.com
